A federal panel of judges on Wednesday rejected a request from the board of the Kennedy Center to restore President Donald Trump's name to the building.

"We now deny Appellants’ motion for a stay pending appeal because they have failed to show how they will be irreparably injured absent a stay," the judges wrote.

Earlier in his term, Trump fired the board of the Kennedy Center and appointed his own selections, who then voted to add his name to the building.

A federal judge previously ordered the removal of his name from the complex, which the board enacted in June.

U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper issued the initial order in May, citing federal statutes dictating that the center solely be a monument to the late President John F. Kennedy.
