Butler Township Commissioner Edward Natali said on social media that the local police had no security detail for former President Donald Trump's rally over the weekend that resulted in an assassination attempt on the former president.

"I want to say as clearly as can be said, the Butler Township Police Department ('BTPD') had no security detail for this event," he wrote in a Facebook post. "There were seven officers all assigned to traffic detail. Period!! The BTPD was NOT responsible for securing AGR or any other location."

Trump held a rally in Butler County, Pennsylvania, on Saturday where a local man shot at him, grazing his right ear.

The Secret Service attempted to say that it was the fault of the local police, resulting in the nation's largest police group, Fraternal Order of Police, pushing back against the implication

Multiple members of Congress have requested more information and documents from the Secret Service and other agencies regarding protocol and failures the day Trump was almost assassinated.

Natali said that he is disgusted with the "finger pointing" taking place over who is at fault for the security failures.

"It is completely disgusting to see finger pointing has become the priority, when we had four people shot, with one of the four fatally wounded," he wrote. "I am sure it is comfort to all family members, including President Trump’s family, that it is more important to affix the blame, rather than the problem."
