At least nine hospitalized after Cincinnati nightclub shooting
Incident follows one in July 2025 in which a man who fell to the ground was repeatedly kicked and hit by people as he struggled to get to his feet and a woman was punched by a man before falling to the ground, sparking public outrage.
At least nine people were hospitalized after a shooting at a Cincinnati nightclub and concert venue, according to police.
The shooting occurred at around 1 a.m. at Riverfront Live on Sunday, WLWT reported.
Cincinnati interim Police Chief Adam Hennie said that multiple shots were fired inside the venue, where 500 to 600 people were inside. He explained that multiple detailed officers were stationed in the parking lot of the venue, allowing a quick police response to the disturbance.
Police said that nine people suffered gunshot wounds.
A University of Cincinnati Health spokesperson told WLWT on Sunday that they received eight patients from the shooting: six were treated and released, and two were in stable condition. Another victim was transported from the shooting scene to Good Samaritan Hospital.
Police said that no suspect has been apprehended in the case.
Hours after the shooting, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said that they are assisting Cincinnati police in their investigation. The department said that they are "deploying all resources to identify those responsible and seek justice for the victims."
Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval (D) posted on X on Sunday, “Overnight in the East End, our community was victim to a senseless mass shooting. Thank you to the officers on site, the first responders for their immediate action, and all the hospital staff who worked to save lives this morning.
“This is unconscionable. Our prayers are with all the victims, and Law Enforcement has our full support to deliver justice. We will continue to keep the public up to date.”
The incident follows one in July 2025, captured on an eyewitness video that went viral, in which a man who fell to the ground is repeatedly kicked and hit by multiple people as he struggled to get to his feet. Later in the video, a woman is seen being punched by a man before falling to the ground unconscious, her head slamming down onto the concrete.
Pureval said afterward: “I am outraged by the vicious fight that occurred downtown. It is horrifying to watch, and this unacceptable and disgusting behavior is intolerable in any part of our community," the mayor's statement began. "That’s not who we are as a city."
