Sacramento police arrest man in connection with fatal shooting

A 26-year-old was arrested and charged with assault and possession of an illegal firearm.

The Sacramento Police Department announced Monday that it had arrested one man in connection to the shooting that killed six people and wounded 12 others over the weekend.

Dandre Martin, 26, was arrested and charged with assault and possession of an illegal firearm, according to a department press release.

Police believe that multiple people opened fire during the incident in downtown Sacramento. Authorities are also investigating footage showing an altercation before the shooting.

Law enforcement identified the victims on Monday as Johntaya Alexander, 21; Yamile Martinez-Andrade, 21; De'Vazia Turner, 29; Joshua Hoye-Lucchesi, 32; Sergio Harris, 38; and Melinda Davis, 57.
