A pro-Democratic group has spent millions to launch an ad campaign against Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, over her record on abortion as the Democratic Party's ticket appears in shambles over the impending withdrawal of nominee Graham Platner.

Collins has long positioned herself as a pro-choice Republican, though she ultimately voted to confirm Supreme Court Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who later voted to overturn Roe v. Wade.

The ad campaign focuses heavily on Collins's support for Kavanaugh and the consequences for abortion rights, Politico reported. Affordable Maine has spent $2.5 million in circulating the ads.

It comes as Platner is set to formally withdraw from the campaign against Collins on Monday. His campaign was rocked by scandals, including a sexual assault allegation, a Nazi Totenkopf tattoo, obscene Reddit posts, and extramarital sexting.
