Jill Biden's former press secretary Michael LaRosa said Tuesday that he does not believe former Vice President Kamala Harris has a chance at winning the Democratic nomination for president in 2028, stating voters will not give her a third chance "at-bat." 

The former press secretary, who worked for the former first lady from 2019 through July 2022, said Harris needs to step up and lead if she wants a chance at becoming president, because she already has decades of political experience.

“She follows. She doesn’t take risks. She calculates," LaRosa told Fox News host Gillian Turner. "She doesn’t answer questions, she equivocates. She’s got to get over that if she wants to make a connection with people, but I don’t think she’s going to get a third at-bat." 

The comment comes after a New York Magazine article claimed Harris was the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination in 2028, highlighting how she has tried to listen to American voters better. 

LaRosa claimed the country needs a stronger leader like California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who is also frequently considered a frontrunner for the Democratic nomination, and said he prefers people like Rahm Emanuel and former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

The former press secretary, who now works as a Democratic strategist, said he is not committed to Newsom, Emanuel or Buttigieg but emphasized the need for the next candidate to be a strong leader if they want to defeat Republicans for the White House.

Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are among the frontrunners for the Republican nomination in 2028.
