Fetterman trolls media on Hegseth meeting, citing Wawa-Sheetz debate
"He doesn't have a real opinion on Sheetz or Wawa. He doesn't have a lot of experience on that," he added.
Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., this week trolled reporters over his meeting with Secretary of Defense-designate Pete Hegseth by making a string of reference to Pennsylvania-specific cultural issues and using them as an apparent metric for assessing his qualifications for the post.
"We agreed that the Steelers are gonna win!" he declared as he existing his office to meet with reporters.
"He doesn't have a real opinion on Sheetz or Wawa. He doesn't have a lot of experience on that," he added. "But of course we know that Sheetz is the right one and the Steelers are gonna win."
Sheetz and Wawa are Pennsylvania-based gas station/convenience store chains that also serve hot food. Sheetz is primarily based in the western portion of the state while Wawa serves the east. The stores maintain a friendly rivalry.
Fetterman declined to state how he would vote on Hegseth's confirmation.
