World War II bomb explodes unexpectedly in English town

A World War II-era bomb detonated in Great Yarmouth, England, on Friday, February 10, as work was being carried out to defuse it, police said. Emergency services and agencies declared a major incident following the discovery of a 250 kilogram unexploded device in the River Yare, on Tuesday, Norfolk Police said. Army specialists worked overnight on Thursday to disarm the unexploded bomb, before the unplanned detonation on Friday, according to police. Police said no one was injured.
