Iran on Tuesday hanged two men who were convicted of killing four police officers during protests in January. 

The men were identified as Abolfazl Sepahi Badjani and Amir Hossein Safari Hosseinabadi, the Associated Press reported, citing state media accounts of the hangings. 

The reports say the men set fire to a police station and damaged properties in the city of Isfahan, about 250 miles from Tehran. 

The condemned men were among tens of thousands who were arrested during a government crackdown on protests in January. Rights groups say more could face death sentences. 

Earlier this month, Iran hanged two other men in the same case.
