Andy Lack ousted as NBC News chief in reorganization

The move was announced Monday as the company revealed corporate restructuring.

NBC News chief Andy Lack is being ousted as the head of the storied news operation as the company announced a corporate restructuring on Monday.

Cesar Conde, chairman of NBCUniversal International Group Chairman and Telemundo, will lead NBC News, MSNBC and CNBC as chairman of NBC Universal News Group, according to NBC News. Lack will depart by the end of May.

Conde’s job includes expanded responsibility as Lack did not previously preside over the business-centric CNBC, according to the Associated Press

NBC News President Noah Oppenheim, MSNBC President Phil Griffin and CNBC Chairman Mark Hoffman will continue serving in their respective roles under Conde's leadership.

Lack, 72, previously served as NBC News president between 1993-2001, when he then rose to become president and chief operating officer. He later departed from the company but and came back to NBC News in 2015.
