"Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can't do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years," Parton said in a statement on social media. "Thank you for your prayers and sympathy."
Carl Dean, the husband of Country music icon Dolly Parton, died on Monday after 60 years of marriage at the age of 82.
Dean, who met his famed wife in 1964 and married her two years later, died in Nashville, Tennessee. No cause of death was immediately given. The couple never had children.
"Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can't do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years," Parton said in a statement on social media. "Thank you for your prayers and sympathy."
Dean's family said that he would be laid to rest at a private ceremony with just immediate family, aligning with his more private nature. He is survived by his wife Dolly, and two siblings, Sandra and Donnie.
