Fox News Media on Wednesday invited former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris to participate in a debate this September, in Pennsylvania, which would be moderated by Martha MacCallum and Bret Baier.

Trump and President Joe Biden were previously expected to debate each other as their parties nominees this September in an event hosted by ABC News. However, Trump has pushed for the debate to be moved to Fox News after Biden withdrew his bid for the presidency on Sunday.

The news outlet proposed the debate take place on Sept. 17, and selected Pennsylvania as its location due to its status as an important battleground state this November. However, the network said it was flexible on the location, date, and format.

"Now that Vice President Kamala Harris is the presumptive Democratic nominee, FOX News Media is amending our proposal for a debate this cycle," the letter stated. "Given the race has changed, we’d like to request the opportunity to host a Presidential Debate between VP Harris and former President Trump.

"As you recall, despite not having a Democratic debate in 2016/2020, Fox News was able to secure town halls with Democratic candidates such as: Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Pete Buttigieg, Julian Castro, Amy Klobuchar and Kirsten Gillibrand," the letter continued. "In recognition of FOX News Media’s capabilities and reputation, we cordially extend an invitation to all concerned parties to discuss our proposal. We appreciate your consideration and look forward to the opportunity to foster informed political dialogue at this pivotal moment for our nation."

The letter comes after Trump stated on Tuesday that he would be willing to debate Harris, even more than once, and said he was not thrilled that ABC News is currently scheduled to host a debate on Sept. 10.

“I think if you’re the Democrat nominee or the Republican nominee, you really have an obligation to debate,” Trump said.
