HBO to produce George Santos movie: report
HBO Veterans Frank Rich and Mike Makowsky are reportedly on board as executive producers, with Makowsky also writing the script. Chiusano has signed on as a consulting producer.
HBO Films has reportedly obtained the rights to a recently published book on former New York Republican Rep. George Santos is developing a movie that will tell the story of the infamous lawmaker's rise and fall.
"The Fabulist: The Lying, Hustling, Grifting, Stealing, and Very American Legend of George Santos," written by Mark Chiusano, was published last week and will serve as the basis for the film, Deadline reported.
The news comes in the wake of Santos's expulsion from the House of Representatives last Friday. The lower chamber voted 311-114 to expel him after the House Ethics Committee released a damning report accusing him of a litany of wrongdoings. He has further pleaded not guilty to 23 federal charges. The expulsion marked a first in that prior lawmakers removed from the chamber had either been convicted of a crime or supported the Confederate States of America.
