NBC News boots Ronna McDaniel after internal network revolt
NBCUniversal News Group Chair Cesar Conde told employees that "After listening to the legitimate concerns of many of you, I have decided that Ronna McDaniel will not be an NBC News contributor."
NBC News on Tuesday terminated its relationship with former Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel after network staffers and on-air talent opposed her hiring.
NBCUniversal News Group Chair Cesar Conde told employees that "After listening to the legitimate concerns of many of you, I have decided that Ronna McDaniel will not be an NBC News contributor," Politico reported.
The network announced last week that McDaniel would become a political analyst after her resignation from the RNC. Many of the network personalities and staffers, however, were less than enthused by her hiring and made their displeasure known publicly.
Former "Meet the Press" host Chuck Todd, after McDaniel's appearance on the program, told host Kristen Welker that McDaniel had "credibility issues" and vocally aired network frustrations with her hiring.
"There’s a reason why there are a lot of journalists at NBC News uncomfortable with this, because many of our professional dealings with the RNC over the last six years have been met with gaslighting, have been met with character assassination," he said on-air.
