The cable channel Newsmax recently settled a defamation lawsuit relating to the 2020 election with voting systems company Smartmatic.

“Newsmax is pleased to announce it has resolved the litigation brought by Smartmatic through a confidential settlement,” the network said in a Thursday statement, according to CNN.

As of now, the terms of the settlement aren't publicly known.

If Newsmax had gone to trial and lost, the network could have had to pay Smartmatic millions of dollars.

This is one of the several lawsuits related to claims about the 2020 election being stolen from former President Donald Trump.

Fox News settled its lawsuit with Dominion for $787 million in 2023.
