TMZ acknowledged its error after falsely reporting that megastar Beyoncé would be making an appearance at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday.

"To quote the great Beyonce: We gotta lay our cards down, down, down ... we got this one wrong," the tabloid entertainment news outlet wrote on the social media platform, X on Friday.

TMZ  reported earlier this week that Beyoncé would perform right before Vice President Kamala Harris accepted the Democratic nomination for president, according to The New York Post.

Singers that did appear at the DNC included singer Pink and The Chicks, a country music group who performed “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

Celebrities that came to the event included Mindy Kaling and Oprah Winfrey.
