The Los Angeles Dodgers won the 2024 World Series on Wednesday night, defeating the New York Yankees in a 4-1 series. The final score was 7-6.

The Dodgers made history during the first game of the series on Friday night, after Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman scored the first-ever walk-off grand slam in a World Series.

Freeman has scored home runs in the first four games, and broke another record on Tuesday night when he became the first player to hit home runs in six consecutive World Series games. The six games include his appearance in the 2021 World Series with Atlanta, according to Major League Baseball. He also scored in the fifth game, but not by a home run.

This year's World Series was considered a powerhouse match-up featuring two of Major League Baseball's most prominent, and historic, teams. The teams also featured five of the league's former Most Valuable Players in Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, Freeman, Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton.

Although Freeman has been setting records, experts previously billed the World Series as a battle between the top home run hitters in their respective leagues. The Dodgers' Ohtani led the National League with 54 home runs and Judge of the Yankees led the American League in home runs with 58.

The first two games of the season were held in Los Angeles, and the final three were held in New York.
