The exchange took place during the first of two New York City mayoral debates ahead of next month's election. The next New York City mayoral debate is scheduled for Oct. 22, and the general election will take place Nov. 4, 2025.
The Democrat used his opening remarks of the attorney general debate to apologize for the texts, stating that he was "ashamed," and said he respected his party for holding him accountable for his "mistakes."
The debate takes place at 30 Rock and there is no audience in the studio. The debate is hosted by NBC 4 New York/WNBC, Telemundo 47/WNJU, and Politico New York.
Spanberger is touting the endorsement of an anti-Trump January 6 committee staffer who endorsed Kamala Harris and helped defend Hunter Biden as a "Republican." The problem is he announced his departure from the GOP on CNN months earlier.
