Former United States Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Public Affairs Monica Crowley said that it was important for former President Donald Trump to be at the World Economic Forum in 2020 to present an "America First" message.

"President Trump stayed for one day and one night to give his speech, and I give him huge credit for doing it," Crowley said on Wednesday's edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "I think he relished doing it as well, because he was walking right into the globalist lion's den."

The World Economic Forum (WEF) describes itself as engaging with "the foremost political, business, cultural and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas."

It is currently hosting an event in Davos, Switzerland where speakers advocate for economic reforms and developmental visions that advance a globalized economy and society.

According to Crowley, while President Trump was at the WEF in 2020, he presented an "America First" platform, which was not well received.

"He gave a straight up 'America First' presentation, which of course they all hated," Crowley stated. "They were glad to have the prestige of the United States and the President of the United States there, but they all sat on their hands."

Crowley said that it is important for America First, or populist, ideas to be presented at places like the World Economic Forum, despite the backlash.

"I think it behooves the United States when we have America First voices on hand to actually go into the lion's den and make our arguments very clear on that global stage," she concluded.
