Harvey Weinstein hospitalized after transferring to Rikers Island jail prior to court appearance
Earlier this week, the New York Court of Appeals overturned Weinstein's rape conviction.
Movie producer Harvey Weinstein was taken to the hospital on Saturday for a battery of tests after he returned to Rikers Island jail prior to his court appearance.
Weinstein was taken to Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan for a thorough exam, according to his attorney, Arthur Aidala.
Aidala said Weinstein "needs a lot of help, physically," according to NBC News.
"He’s got a lot of problems," Aidala added. "He’s getting all kinds of tests. He’s somewhat of a train wreck health wise."
Earlier this week, the New York Court of Appeals overturned Weinstein's rape conviction.
The court ruled that Weinstein didn't receive a fair trial in a 4-3 decision. The court said some of the women who testified made accusations against Weinstein that were not related to the charges at the heart of the case.
Weinstein is currently serving a 23-year sentence in a New York jail where he will remain, despite the decision to overturn the ruling.
