Lauren Boebert says her vaping and dancing at the theater was due to her 'eccentric' personality
Boebert had originally denied that she was kicked out of the theater for vaping during the performance, but video footage refutes the claim.
Colorado GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert blamed her "eccentric" personality for her behavior after being thrown out of a theater production of "Beetlejuice" on September 10 due to vaping and causing a disturbance.
“I was a little too eccentric. I am very known for having an animated personality. Maybe overly animated personality,” Boebert said on One America News Network.
“I was laughing, I was singing, having a fantastic time. Was told to kind of settle it down a little bit, which I did but then my next slip-up was taking a picture,” she added.
Boebert had originally denied that she was kicked out of the theater for vaping during the performance, but video footage refutes the claim.
The video footage, which 9News obtained, appears to show Boebert using a vape, taking flash photos, and raising her arms and dancing from her chair.
The Colorado Congresswoman recently put out an apology for her behavior after surveillance footage was released from the theater.
“I’ve tried to handle it with strength and grace as best I can, but I simply fell short of my values on Sunday. That’s unacceptable and I’m sorry," she wrote in a Facebook post.
"Whether it was the excitement of seeing a much-anticipated production or the natural anxiety of being in a new environment, I genuinely did not recall vaping that evening when I discussed the night's events with my campaign team while confirming my enthusiasm for the musical," the post continued. "Regardless of my belief, it's clear now that was not accurate; it was not my or my campaign's intention to mislead, but we do understand the nature of how this looks. We know we will have to work to earn your trust back and it may not happen overnight, but we will do it."
