Alabama Sen. Britt to deliver the GOP response to Biden's State of the Union speech
Britt is the first woman in Alabama's history to be elected to the Senate.
Alabama Sen. Katie Britt will deliver the GOP response to President Joe Biden's State of the Union speech Thursday.
"I am truly honored and grateful for the opportunity to speak directly to my fellow Americans," Britt wrote on the social media platform, X. "I’ll outline the Republican vision to secure the American Dream for generations to come."
Britt is also the first woman in Alabama's history to be elected to the Senate.
The president's speech will be delivered in House chambers in a primetime TV address.
"I am pleased to announce with @LeaderMcConnell that @SenKatieBritt will be delivering the Republican response to the State of the Union address," House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., announced Thursday. "The American people will tune in as the youngest Republican woman ever elected to the Senate turns the page on the oldest President in history."
