House Oversight Chairman James Comer said Friday that Minnesota Democratic Gov. Tim Walz and state Attorney General Keith Ellison will testify in front of his committee in early March.

Comer invited Walz and Ellison to testify in front of the panel last month about the fraud scandals that have engulfed the state. Walz most recently testified in front of the committee last June, along with other Democratic governors, about their cooperation with federal immigration enforcement activities.

The Kentucky lawmaker initially invited the men to testify in a hearing on Feb. 10, but Comer said the hearing will take place March 4 instead.

“We look forward to questioning Governor Walz and Attorney General Ellison under oath about this scandal to ensure transparency and accountability for the American people, and to advance solutions to prevent waste, fraud, and abuse and impose stronger penalties on those who defraud taxpayers,” Comer said in a statement.

Walz has acknowledged there fraud in the state, but said his administration pursued the matter for years.
