In the wake of a statement from Democratic leadership indicating they would oppose a motion from Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene to remove House Speaker Mike Johnson, she vowed to push forward with her effort.

Greene filed her motion to vacate in late March following Johnson's support of a $1.2 trillion "minibus" spending package. Thus far, Kentucky GOP Rep. Thomas Massie and Arizona GOP Rep. Paul Gosar have signed on to the effort. Democrats, for their part, indicated they would work against such a motion.

"Mike Johnson is officially the Democrat Speaker of the House. Here is their official endorsement of his Speakership. What slimy back room deal did Johnson make for the Democrats’ support?" she posted on X, along with an image of the Democratic statement.

"He should resign, switch parties, and continue voting for Biden’s open border invasion of America, endless wars, full term abortion on demand, trans agenda on children, warrantless spying on the American people, weaponizing government against President Trump and his supporters, and every other Democrat wishlist item he’s handed over," she continued.

"If the Democrats want to elect him Speaker (and some Republicans want to support the Democrats’ chosen Speaker), I’ll give them the chance to do it," Greene concluded. "I’m a big believer in recorded votes because putting Congress on record allows every American to see the truth and provides transparency to our votes. Americans deserve to see the Uniparty on full display. I’m about to give them their coming out party!"

Earlier this week, Arizona GOP Rep. Andy Biggs said on the "John Solomon Reports" podcast that there was no "critical mass" of lawmakers ready to remove Johnson, but that there existed "a lot of anger... and frustration."

Reacting to the Democratic statement, Massie expressed no surprise at the opposition party's position, saying "Hakeem Jeffries vows to save Mike Johnson’s Speakership. Why wouldn’t he? Johnson has given the Democrats everything they want."
