Ex-Congressman Collins says Speaker Johnson has to be a leader and make decisions
"There's been some instances recently where he won't make a decision," Collins said about Johnson.
Former Georgia GOP Congressman Doug Collins said that Speaker Mike Johnson needs to be a leader in his position and make important decisions in the House.
"Speaker Johnson is gonna have to make some decisions, and there's been some instances recently where he won't make a decision," Collins said. "The very essence of leadership is making a decision, following through on that decision, changing if need be, but making a decision."
The GOP-led House had a difficult Tuesday night after their effort to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas failed 216-214.
Johnson has gotten pushback from members of the House Freedom Caucus over the House passing a continuing resolution last month to extend current federal funding levels and avoid a government shutdown, despite many members being opposed to continuing resolutions.
Collins added that Republicans in the House also need to come together to pass legislation.
"If Republicans ... want to make the impact and influence decisional spending and other things, they're going to have to come together," he said.
