A string of prominent Republican incumbents on Tuesday night advanced to their general elections this November, including Reps. Matt Gaetz, Anna Paulina Luna, Byron Donalds, Cory Mills, and Sen. Rick Scott.

Gaetz successfully fended off a challenge from Navy veteran Aaron Dimmock, who was supported by former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy as part of his "revenge tour" on lawmakers that voted to remove him as speaker last year. Gaetz orchestrated McCarthy's ousting, with the help of a handful of Republicans and all House Democrats.

Luna, who is a member of the House Freedom Caucus and is a strong ally of former President Donald Trump,  advanced automatically on Tuesday after she ran unopposed. She will face Democrat Whitney Fox in November.

Donalds also immediately advanced in the primaries after no challengers emerged to face him. Mills, an Army veteran and Trump ally, defended his seat from fellow veteran Mike Johnson.

Scott, who is eyeing a leadership position in the Senate, survived two GOP challengers, and will face Democrat Debbie Mucarsel-Powell in November.
