Former North Carolina GOP Rep. Madison Cawthorn is making moves to come back to Congress, but in Florida, according to reports.

Sources told Axios that Cawthorn is planning to run for Florida's 19th Congressional District seat. The seat will be open as current Rep. Byron Donalds is planning to run for governor.

One source told Axios that Cawthorn met with GOP leaders on Capitol Hill on Wednesday to discuss the bid.

He did not meet with House Speaker Mike Johnson during the visit.

Cawthorn was the representative for North Carolina's 11th district from 2021 to 2023, but lost his primary election.
