Newsmakers Review: GOP congressmen slam Biden disconnect from American public
Wisconsin Republican Rep. Bryan Steil criticized House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for allowing lawmakers to have a two-week break.
Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) and Rep. Bryan Steil (R-Wisc.) slammed the Biden administration this week for being disconnected from the American public on inflation and other policy issues.
President Joe Biden does not understand "what the priorities of America should be," Steil told "Just the News - Not Noise."
"The situation that we're in here in Washington is really unbelievable," he said. "Americans are getting kicked in the face by higher inflation with rising costs of everything from energy to food to clothing. And what's the Democrats' solution to this? To put more fuel on the fire."
Sullivan said that his constituents "know exactly who is causing" the increase in prices.
"It's the president of the United States and his policies," Sullivan asserted.
"People are really hurting," he added.
Steil said that the poor are especially affected.
"Inflation is killing everybody, but it really clobbers low-income workers and seniors on a fixed income," he told cohosts John Solomon and Amanda Head.
The Wisconsin Republican criticized House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for allowing lawmakers to have a two-week break.
"Nobody here earned a vacation," Steil said. "We should be here working on behalf of the American people to get cost under control."
While Biden has insisted that his policies are not driving inflation, a top pollster for the president called Russian President Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine "good news" for the Democratic Party, which now has a "specific villain" to blame.
