GOP senators to host a roundtable on DHS failures to collect DNA samples at southern border
Whistleblowers from Customs and Border Protection are expected to testify, as well as an expert on the matter.
Senators Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Ron Johnson, R-Wis., are expected to hold a roundtable next week regarding the Department of Homeland Security's failure to collect DNA samples of migrants at the border.
"The roundtable will examine DHS's neglect to take or submit illegal immigrants’ DNA samples to FBI databases – a violation of the DNA Fingerprint Act of 2005 – and its retaliation against whistleblowers who lawfully disclosed the issue to Congress," read a Tuesday press release from Grassley's office.
Whistleblowers from Customs and Border Protection are expected to testify, as well as Kumar Kibble, whom the release described as a "subject matter expert."
The roundtable will take place July 23 at 3 p.m. EST.
Grassley and Johnson recently held a roundtable that discussed the exploitation of unaccompanied migrant children at the border.
The roundtable set for next week will be titled “Reckless Disregard: How DHS’ Failure to Collect DNA at the Border Endangers Americans."
