House GOP blocks two resolutions to release Gaetz ethics report

House Republicans on Thursday voted to send two resolutions that would have released the House ethics report against former Rep. Matt Gaetz back to the committee. 

The House voted 204-198 to send the second resolution back to the committee.

“The Committee met today to discuss the matter of Representative Matt Gaetz. The Committee is continuing to discuss the matter. There will be no further statements other than in accordance with Committee and House Rules,” the panel wrote, according to The Hill.

The report is in response to allegations that Gaetz, while a congressman, engaged in sexual misconduct with a minor, claims he has strongly denied.

The Justice Department conducted its own investigation that concluded last year without charges.

Gaetz resigned from office Nov. 13, the same day GOP President-elect Donald Trump nominated him to be attorney general.
