After passing a procedural hurdle on Tuesday, the House is expected to vote Wednesday on a bill that would restrict stock trading by members of Congress.

It will be the first time the full House has voted on legislation to limit lawmakers' legal ability to trade individual stocks, but some advocates say the legislation doesn't go far enough, NOTUS reported

House Republicans tied the vote to the SAVE Act, which would require proof of citizenship to register to vote and identification to cast a ballot.

Even if the House passes the measure, it isn't likely to see much support in the Senate. A separate bill that would prevent members of Congress, their families, the president and vice president from owning and trading any individual stocks was introduced in the Senate. That bill has not yet been scheduled for a vote.
