House Republicans on Thursday claimed that an hours-long meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House had "very positive developments," as the leaders work on a plan to pass his legislative agenda.

The meeting comes days after House Speaker Mike Johnson was forced to scrap his budget plan because of backlash within his own conference. But the speaker said that House Republicans hope to unveil their overarching framework on Friday, according to The Hill.

“We got out the white boards and we worked out the framework, what we believe will be the path forward,” Johnson told reporters after the meeting. “I think we’ll be able to make some announcements probably by tomorrow, and we’re excited about that. Very positive developments today."

Some of the conservative priorities include border funding, immigration policy, and extending the GOP's 2017 tax cuts. Johnson said he expects the House will be able to move forward on the plans sometime next week.

The meeting also comes a day after Senate Republicans said they plan to move forward on their own budget reconciliation plan, because of stalling in the House.

Senate Budget Committee Chairman Sen. Lindsey Graham said his panel next week will begin to draft – or "mark up" – his own $300 billion budget resolution, which will increase border security and crack down on illegal immigration.

"This will be the most transformational border security bill in the history of our country," Graham wrote on the social media platform, X. "It's time to act."

Congress has until March 14 to pass a bill before government funding runs out.
