House passes one-week stopgap government funding measure

The House of Representatives decisively passed a one-week stopgap government funding measure on Wednesday by a vote of 343-67.

In order to stave off a government shutdown later this week the measure still must pass in the Senate and get signed by the president before the impending deadline.

A government shutdown will begin Saturday morning if the president does not sign by midnight Friday, according to the Washington Post.

The passage also comes as congressional leaders and the White House seek to reach an agreement regarding a coronavirus relief package.
