Jordan wants the contractor who crafted the politicized FBI litmus test to testify: report
Jordan's letter follows recent testimony from whistleblowers alleging the bureau retaliated against them for their conservative and religious beliefs.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan is reportedly calling for the FBI contractor who created the political litmus test used by the bureau for at least one security clearance review to testify before his panel.
The letter was sent Monday to the unidentified contractor, just days after his committee heard testimony from FBI whistleblowers who say the bureau retaliated against them for their conservative and religious beliefs. The contractor, who remains unidentified in the letter exclusively reviewed by the Washington Times, was reportedly the creator of the test used by the FBI's Security Division to review the security clearance of at least one employee.
When the FBI officials conducted a security review of the employee, they asked witnesses whether that employee was known to support former President Donald Trump, if he had expressed concerns about the COVID-19 vaccine or had attended a Second Amendment rally, according to memos previously obtained by Just the News.
“Since May 2020, you have worked as a contractor performing security clearance investigations for the FBI’s Security Division (SecD),” Mr. Jordan reportedly wrote. “We recently learned that while conducting these security clearance investigations, you played a role in creating and using a politically motivated questionnaire that posed inappropriate questions about FBI employees’ political views.”
Jordan asked the unnamed contractor to schedule an interview with his committee by Oct. 14.
The employee’s security clearance was revoked months after the interviews, which confirmed his support for Trump and gun rights and his concerns about the COVID vaccine, according to the documents obtained in June by Just the News.
“We have learned that you created or helped to create this questionnaire and that you used it in the course of your official actions,” Mr. Jordan wrote. “The Committee and Select Subcommittee are examining the development, approval, and use of this questionnaire as part of our investigation into the FBI’s misuse of the security clearance suspension and revocation process.”
