Senator urges university to fire professor who calls for shooting men who won't vote for Harris

Kansas Sen. Roger Marshall on Wednesday urged the University of Kansas to fire a professor that claimed men who refuse to vote for a female presidential candidate, such as Vice President Kamala Harris, because of her gender should be shot.
The professor, who has not been publicly identified so far, made the comment during a class lecture earlier in the semester. Footage of the rant has been circulating on social media on Wednesday, and the professor has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
"[If you think] guys are smarter than girls, you've got some serious problems," the professor said in the video. "That's what frustrates me. There are going to be some males in our society that will refuse to vote for a potential female president because they don't think females are smart enough to be president. We could line all those guys up and shoot them. They clearly don't understand the way the world works."
The instructor then requested the comment be scratched from the record because he didn't "want the deans hearing that I said that."
The university clarified that the professor intended to advocate for women’s rights and equality, but did a poor job of it.
"Disturbing video from a [University of Kansas] professor," Marshall posted to X. "Anyone saying men who don’t vote for Kamala Harris should be ‘lined up and shot’ is deranged and shouldn’t be around students nor academia. I trust that the [university] will take immediate action and fire this professor."
Marshall confirmed that the professor was placed on administrative leave in a follow-up post, but said he was still calling for the man's "swift termination," because he should not be "within 100 yards of a university."
