Florida GOP Rep. Anna Paulina Luna filed two resolutions Wednesday against fellow GOP Rep. Tony Gonzales of Texas, which seek to censure him or strip him of his committee assignments. 

The resolutions were related to allegations Gonzales had an affair with a staffer who later committed suicide and comes the same day the House Ethics Committee opened a probe into the allegations. 

The investigation centers on allegations that he violated the Code of Official Conduct with the affair or any law, rule, regulation, or other applicable standard of conduct in the performance of his duties or the discharge of his responsibilities.

Luna's censure resolution also accuses Gonzales of failing to meet "even the minimum standards of ethical conduct by having an affair with a member of his staff,” according to a copy obtained by The Hill.

The other resolution attempts to remove Gonzales from his positions on the House Homeland Security Committee and the House Appropriations Committee. It is not clear when Luna will force a vote on the resolutions.

Gonzales has denied any wrongdoing and claimed the allegations are part of a political smear by his opponents. Despite the scandal, Gonzales still advanced to a runoff for his House seat Tuesday against primary challenger Brandon Herrera.
