Pelosi to run for reelection next November
Pelosi served as House speaker from 2007-2011 and again in 2019.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Friday that she will be running for reelection in 2024.
"Now more than ever our City needs us to advance San Francisco values and further our recovery," the 83-year-old congresswoman wrote on X, the platform previously called Twitter. "Our country needs America to show the world that our flag is still there, with liberty and justice for ALL. That is why I am running for reelection – and respectfully ask for your vote."
Pelosi served as speaker, the chamber's leader, from 2007-2011 and again in 2019. She stepped down in 2023 after Republicans took back the chamber.
Pelosi was first elected to the House in 1987 in a special election after the serving Congresswoman passed away.
