NC Rep. Jeff Jackson to resign from Congress to assume state AG post

North Carolina Democratic Rep. Jeff Jackson on Tuesday announced his resignation from the House of Representatives just days before his term was set to expire.
Jackson made the announcement in a statement to X, explaining that he was set to take office as North Carolina's next attorney general on Jan. 1, but that his term as a member of Congress expired on Jan. 3. His resignation will take effect at midnight.
"So, to avoid the three-day overlap and make sure I'm not getting paid by those two jobs at the same time, I'm resigning a few days early from my term in Congress," he said.
Jackson's district includes much of the city of Charlotte and territory to the city's West. Rep.-elect Tim Moore, a Republican, will assume the seat, though redistricting significantly shifted its borders.
