Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) predicted that law enforcement will start targeting supporters of former President Donald Trump and conservatives in general following the FBI's raid on Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

Although Rubio and Trump were described by New York Magazine as the "best of frenemies" due to their tense relationship starting during the 2016 election, the senator sided with the former president during an interview Tuesday with Fox News' Sean Hannity.

"I'm telling you the next thing you're going to see here, Sean, because it's the playbook. And that is, they are now going to begin to say, 'Oh, these Trump supporters, these Republicans, they're very upset. They're saying very angry things. We think they might be a threat. We think they're radical extremists. Let's start arresting them,'" Rubio said.

"The next step in this process is going to be that people who are supporters of Donald Trump or just conservatives complaining about this … are going to begin to get labeled as potential insurrectionists and are going to begin to get harassed by law enforcement. That's the next step in this playbook, sadly," Rubio predicted.

He also compared the raid to something that would happen under a Latin American dictatorship or any other authoritarian country, stating that the first step is to go after political opponents.
