Sen. Ron Johnson invites FBI, DOJ whistleblowers to come forward after raid on Trump's home
Agents carried out the raid less than two weeks after Johnson sent a letter to the DOJ and FBI about allegations of bias
Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson encouraged whistleblowers to come forward about the FBI's raid on former President Donald Trump's home in Mar-a-Lago, Fla., in a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray.
He called the raid "deeply concerning" and said that agents carried it out less than two weeks after he sent a letter to Wray and Garland about whistleblower allegations regarding the FBI's "targeted effort to intentionally undermine" the Senate's pre-election investigation of Hunter Biden's questionable business deals.
"The FBI’s unprecedented actions against former President Trump, without any stated justification, only add to the mounting evidence of corruption within our federal law enforcement agencies and is yet another example of a multi-tiered system of justice and federal agencies being weaponized against the left’s political opponents," Johnson wrote in his letter Wednesday.
The senator joined other members of Congress in requesting an explanation for the FBI's raid, but he said he is doubtful the agency will be truthful given its history.
"Instead, I want to reiterate my message to the brave men and women who work at the FBI and the Department of Justice who are frustrated and concerned with the direction your agencies are taking: If you have witnessed wronging at your agency, please come forward and share your concerns with my office. You have a right to talk to Congress," Johnson stated.
