Sen. Ron Johnson vows J6 investigations will continue into the next administration

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., said that going into the next Congress, the Jan. 6 investigations need to continue since there are still unanswered questions. 

"I hate to say four years later, January 6 will remain a priority because we still don't know what happened," Johnson said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "We don't know about the pipe bombs. We don't know how many government agents or confidential human sources were in the crowd."

Following the Jan. 6 Capitol Hill riot in 2021, there have been numerous hearings on what happened that day, with some Republicans arguing that the findings from Democratic investigations have been illegitimate. 

U.S. Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz in September would not say how many U.S. government confidential human sources were among the protestors during the Capitol riot.

"Why didn't we have security?" Johnson asked. "Who actually interviewed Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell, who were in charge of security that day?"

He said that the protesters who actually partook in violent activity should be punished, but those who peacefully protested shouldn't be unfairly targeted by the government.
