The Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday recommend a final chamber vote for Kash Patel to become the country's next FBI director.

The committee vote was 12 Republican members for and 10 Democrats opposed.

Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, the top Democrat on the committee, delayed the vote by one week on Feb. 6.

President Donald Trump nominated Patel to replace former FBI Director Christopher Wray.

With Republicans having the majority of members in the Senate, Patel appears likely to be confirmed.
