Senators will return next week to Capitol Hill: McConnell
No more long-distance legislating
Senators will return to Capitol Hill next week to conduct business in person after an extended pandemic recess, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Monday
“We will honor our constitutional duty to the American people and conduct critical business in person,” the Kentucky Republican said.
However, the 100-member chamber will “modify” some of its practices to accommodate the unprecedented conditions of the coronavirus pandemic but is looking to halt legislating long-distance.
The Senate was in Washington, D.C., in late March. The pre-pandemic schedule would keep them in the nation's capital until May 22.
