The former governor resigned in 2021 amid public scrutiny of his conduct involving his female aides. He is facing sexual harassment suits stemming from the investigation and has argued he needs witness statements in James's possession to defend himself, according to the Associated Press.
Former Cuomo executive assistant Brittany Commisso in November sued him, alleging he subjected her to "humiliating and demeaning tasks, hugs, kisses, sexual touching of the buttocks and forcible touching of the breast."
Amid his legal troubles, reports have emerged that Cuomo is looking to return to politics. Among the reported possibilities is a mayoral bid as New York City Mayor Eric Adams fends off scandals related to his campaign and an ongoing surge in illegal alien arrivals.
