President Joe Biden's nominee to become a trial judge in the Western District of New York on Tuesday announced that she had asked Biden not to renominate her for the post.

Biden tapped Colleen Holland for the post in August of last year, The Hill reported. She provided little detail as to her reasoning in a public statement, saying "I have asked the President not to resubmit my nomination to the Senate. This was a personal decision made after careful consideration."

Holland currently serves as the special counsel to the chief judge of the Western District of New York and previously worked as that judge's law clerk. The Senate had not scheduled a hearing on her nomination.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, in response, called her "an accomplished lawyer, of profound integrity and legal intellect" and indicated he would work with the White House to find a new nominee.
