Boxer Mike Tyson faces $5 million suit for alleged rape in 1990s
Tyson was previously convicted of raping then 18-year-old Desiree Washington in 1992.
Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson is facing a $5 million lawsuit from an anonymous plaintiff who alleges the famed boxer raped her in a limousine after meeting at a nightclub roughly three decades ago.
The unnamed plaintiff contends in the suit that she suffered "physical, psychological, and emotional injury" in years following Tyson's alleged misconduct, according to the New York Post.
"I told him no several times and asked him to stop, but he continued to attack me. He then pulled my pants off and violently raped me," Tyson's accuser claims.
Despite the alleged rape occurring approximately thirty years prior, the plaintiff is able to file suit under New York's Adult Survivors Act, which has created a one-year legal window in which alleged sexual assault victims may bring suits for incidents that occurred beyond the normal statutes of limitation.
