FBI visits Washington, D.C., home of Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska on 'law enforcement' matter

FBI agents on Tuesday morning reportedly visited the Washington, D.C., home of Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska.

The agency confirmed the situation with NBC News and said agents were conducting "law enforcement activity at the home" but provide no further specifics. 

Deripaska is reportedly a billionaire oil executive with close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin. He was among two dozen Russian oligarchs and officials sanctioned in April 2018 by the Treasury Department, NBC also reports.

Deripaska reportedly has been investigated for money laundering and accused of "threatening the lives of business rivals, illegally wiretapping a government official, and taking part in extortion and racketeering."

A federal court judge in June dismissed his case over the sanctions, NBC also reports.
