Flynn's former counsel identifies, hands over more documents in case
Flynn's case has been in the spotlight recently
The Covington & Burling law firm that once served as former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn's legal counsel has turned over dozens more documents related to the retired Army general's case, according to new court papers.
In document filed Saturday in the U.S. District Court of the District of Columbia, the firm states it has identified and turned over 32 handwritten documents and some duplicate pages that were already supplied to new legal Flynn's team but that also included notations and therefore should be forwarded.
The transfer was in response to an April 28 Minute Order from the court.
The firm said that in addition to the pages of pages handwritten notes, it also turned over "43 pages of documents that are duplicates of documents previously transferred,16 pages of which contain underlining or similar handwritten notations, which should have been scanned and transferred as part of the client file transfer."
Covington & Burlington says it has already turned over about 669,800 documents and that the additional pages given to the court have also been given to Flynn's new legal team, which includes attorney Sidney Powell.
Flynn, who in 2017 plead guilty to lying to the FBI, has sought to withdraw his guilty plea and filed a motion for the case to be dismissed due to "egregious government misconduct."
The FBI's conduct in Flynn's case has come under scrutiny, and last week the issue was again highlighted due to newly released handwritten FBI notes.
"What is our goal? Truth/Admission or to get him to lie, so we can prosecute him or get him fired?," reads handwritten notes of a senior official say.
