Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson has made nearly $3 million from her memoir, “Lovely One,” according to a financial disclosure.

The disclosure released Tuesday showed that Jackson received $2 million of the advance last year for the book, in addition to about $900,000 that publisher Penguin Random House paid her in 2023, Politico reported. Her memoir reached No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list following its release.

The amount that Jackson made from her memoir is close to what Justice Sonia Sotomayor received as an advance for her 2014 autobiography, “My Beloved World.” Sotomayor's disclosure released on Tuesday reports that she made about $132,000 last year from Penguin Random House for her past books and a forthcoming one.

According to watchdog Fix the Court, Sotomayor has earned a total of $3.9 million in advances and royalties from her books, which is the highest book-related income of any current justice.

Jackson, Justice Clarence Thomas, and Justice Neil Gorsuch have all made more than $1 million in income from books they have written, at $2.9 million, $1.5 million, and $1.4 million, respectively, per Fix the Court.
