She is the 104th associate justice and first Black woman to serve on the court
Ketanji Brown Jackson was sworn in Thursday as the newest Supreme Court justice.
She is President Biden's first appointment to the high court and the first black female Supreme Court justice.
Chief Justice John Roberts administered the constitutional oath in the swearing in ceremony. He was followed by now-retired Justice Stephen Breyer, who administered the judicial oath.
Breyer retired effective at noon, and Jackson now occupies his seat.
